San Diego FC has just made a splash in the MLS transfer market by signing Alex Mighten from Nottingham Forest. The winger, who has roots in both England and the United States, joins SDFC on a two-and-a-half-year contract, extending through the end of the 2026 season. The deal also includes a club option for an additional year, making this a long-term commitment for both parties. San Diego acquired the Discovery Priority to Mighten from Nashville SC, shelling out $50,000 in 2025 General Allocation Money (GAM) to secure the move.
Alex Mighten, a 22-year-old winger, comes with an impressive resume. Born in Hartford, Connecticut, he moved to England as a child and rose through the ranks at Nottingham Forest, where he made over 67 appearances. His journey has taken him from the English Premier League to the Belgian First Division and back, showcasing his adaptability and skill across multiple leagues. Though he’ll officially join San Diego in January 2025, there’s already buzz about a loan deal that could see him gain more experience for the rest of 2024.
