San Diego FC is full of rumors of potential signings as their 2025 debut approaches, and the recent official announcement of a loan move from LAFC has added to the excitement.
In an exciting move for their MLS debut, San Diego FC has secured the signing of Colombian forward Tomas Angel.
San Diego FC adds LAFC player to their roster
After a year with limited playing time at LAFC, the 21-year-old striker is getting a fresh opportunity to prove himself with the new MLS expansion team.
San Diego FC confirmed the deal, which includes Angel’s transfer along with a second-round pick in the 2025 MLS SuperDraft in exchange for $200,000 in General Allocation Money (GAM) for the 2025 season.
This transfer marks a new chapter in Angel’s career as he joins a promising club that is set to make its MLS debut in 2025.
Tomas Angel has struggled for consistent playing time with LAFC, making only five appearances in the 2024 season and scoring his first-ever MLS goal in a 6-2 win over the San Jose Earthquakes.
However, his time with Phoenix Rising FC in the USL Championship saw a much more successful spell, where he scored six goals in 15 matches and helped his team reach the playoffs.
A new beginning for Tomas Angel
San Diego FC’s sporting director, Tyler Heaps, is excited about the signing, praising Angel’s potential and winning mentality.
Heaps mentioned that the club is eager to help Angel continue his development as a player while adding depth to their attacking line.
With a two-year contract in hand, Angel’s move to San Diego represents a chance to show his full potential on a bigger stage, and San Diego FC fans will be hopeful that the young forward can shine in his new environment.
