A few weeks remain until San Diego FC begins its pre-season, and the newest MLS franchise continues working on building its roster.

As the season kicks off, Tyler Heaps has already shared some fascinating insights about the team’s only Designated Player at the moment, Chucky Lozano.

In addition, the rumor linking San Diego FC with Kevin De Bruyne has gained traction once again, so it’s safe to say things haven’t been too dull.

While we enjoy speculating about potential strong additions to the team, like in our recent article on three Premier League players who could fit well at SDFC, today we’ll focus on official updates.

San Diego FC loans out Duran Ferree and signs Pablo Sisniega

San Diego FC has officially confirmed the departure of goalkeeper Duran Ferree, once again loaning him to FC Nordsjælland.

“San Diego FC today announced goalkeeper Duran Ferree will rejoin FC Nordsjælland on loan until June 2025,” reads the club’s official website.

“The San Diego native and U.S. youth national goalkeeper became the first player signed in SDFC history in December 2023. He was then loaned to OCSC in January of this year before he joined FCN on loan in September,” they added.

Along with this, San Diego FC also officially announced the signing of 29-year-old Mexican goalkeeper Pablo Sisniega as a free agent.

“San Diego FC announced today the Club has signed free agent goalkeeper Pablo Sisniega to a one-year contract through the end of the 2025 MLS season with Club options for the 2026 and 2027 MLS seasons,” the club explained.

“Pablo joins SDFC after spending the last season with USL Championship side San Antonio FC, making 22 appearances (22 starts) since he joined San Antonio in January 2024. Before joining San Antonio, Sisniega spent two years with Charlotte FC and its MLS Next Pro affiliate, Crown Legacy FC,” they added.

According to sporting director Tyler Heaps, Sisniega will bring “experience to a competitive group of goalkeepers who will join us in January.”

It’s important to note that San Diego FC already has CJ dos Santos (born 8/24/2000) and Jacob Jackson (born 4/25/2000 in San Diego, CA) in their roster.

Which other stars could join San Diego FC?

Reports suggest a star-studded lineup could grace the field for San Diego FC.

Names such as Keylor Navas, Nacho, Sergio Ramos, Luka Modric, and even Neymar have been mentioned in various sources, including El Diario.

The reality is that some of the names mentioned have “cooled off” in recent weeks and months.

Just a few days ago, it emerged that San Diego FC are no longer interested in Erick Gutiérrez, a former teammate of Hirving Lozano who now plays for Chivas in Liga MX.

Brandon Vázquez and Diego Valdés, from Monterrey and América respectively, have also been linked to SDFC.
