San Diego FC’s official website announced the acquisition of Franco Negri on a one-year contract, set to run through the end of the 2025 MLS season, with the option for an additional year.

Negri was selected in Stage 2 of the 2024 MLS Re-Entry Draft. His signing is a significant move for the club as they prepare to compete in MLS for the first time.

“Franco has proven he can be a key contributor at left back in his career and we’re happy to add him to our current squad,” said SDFC Sporting Director Tyler Heaps.

“His composure on the ball and ability to impact both defense and attack brings a level of talent and leadership that will be invaluable as we continue to build our pieces for 2025.”

Franco Negri arrives at San Diego FC with a wealth of experience, most recently playing for Inter Miami FC.

During his two seasons with Miami, he made 32 appearances and was pivotal in the team’s success, which included winning the 2023 Leagues Cup and securing the 2024 Supporters’ Shield.

He contributed two goals and three assists across all competitions in that period.

At 29, Negri brings a blend of experience, leadership, and versatility to San Diego FC’s defense. His ability to impact the game both defensively and offensively will be crucial for the club in their debut MLS season.
