San Diego FC are determined to make history in 2025, a year that will mark their inaugural season in MLS.

To achieve this, the club’s management is assembling a competitive squad that blends youth and experience.

Hirving ‘Chucky’ Lozano stands out as their first Designated Player, but other young stars are also grabbing attention.

Players like Manu Duah, Samy Kanaan, and Duran Ferree are generating a lot of excitement among fans due to their potential, and in the case of the latter two, for being players born and raised in San Diego.

Speaking exclusively to Chrome and Azul, Duran Ferree shared some of his European experience, his future with SDFC, and sent a message to the fans.

While his immediate future remains with the Danish side, Ferree is excited about continuing his development. “FCN has been an excellent opportunity to train at a high level and get games in with their U21 and U19 teams,” he explained.

His ultimate goal remains clear: “I am really excited to continue to develop with FCN over the coming months and come back to SDFC even more prepared to help SDFC win games.”

European experience and its impact on his development

At just 18 years old, Ferree has already experienced the intensity of European football, and he believes the exposure will prove invaluable as he continues to grow.

“It really has been a great experience and I feel blessed to have these opportunities,” he shared.

Ferree also acknowledged the unique opportunity to be part of a club like San Diego FC, with a strong focus on developing young talent. “It is also amazing to be with a team that has a strong foundation for developing young players like myself,” he added.

His experiences in international tournaments such as the U17 Gold Cup and U17 World Cup, coupled with training at FC Nordsjælland, have broadened his horizon.

“I have had the chance to play internationally in the U17 Gold Cup, U17 World Cup, and now with FCN, and it really has provided me with unique opportunities to train with some of the best players and coaches in the world,” said Ferree.

While he remains focused on his personal growth, the thought of training alongside some of the world’s best players excites him.

“I am focused on being the best goalkeeper I can be right now, but I cannot wait to train with some of the best players in the world, like Hirving Lozano, when I get back!” he said.

Ferree’s path so far has been full of great opportunities, showing just how committed he is and what a bright future he has ahead. There’s a lot of excitement around what’s next for both him and San Diego FC.
